Can I use IN-Perium while fasting?

There are several schools of thought on fasting. A popular rule of thumb is that one can consume up to 50 calories during a fasting period without breaking the fast. If you subscribe to this principle, a serving of IN-Perium is nowhere close to ending your fast.

Some people, including Dr. Jaquish, would also maintain that the benefits of fasting are derived from the absence of an insulin response. If you are participating in an insulin restriction fast, you may be pleased to know that a majority of the 25 calories in IN-Perium are from fat, which causes no insulin response. The concept of ‘insulin fasting’ is the basis for substituting coffee with butter and MCT oil for an ordinary breakfast, and you can make the same substitution with IN-Perium.

Furthermore, if one is fasting to promote autophagy, it is worth noting that ingredients in IN-Perium may well accelerate the onset of that process. Before comparing X3 resistance bands to free weights, it’s crucial to understand variable resistance and how X3 differs from free weights. Even though some users measure over 600 or 700 pounds with the X3 Elite Band, that's only at the very top of a movement.

The resistance forces will vary depending on your height and the exercise as the bands stretch more or less.

With X3, results matter more than how heavy you can say you lift. Some of the users with the best results are always targeting closer to 40 slow and controlled reps instead of closer to 15 slow and controlled reps. Always do slow and controlled reps to get the most out of X3.

The X3 Performance Bands (sold separately), made with ParaForce Rubber™, have a more aggressive force curve that helps stimulate more muscle growth. While the maximum resistance weight equivalents are nearly the same as those of the original X3 resistance bands, made with natural layered latex, the more aggressive force curve of the X3 Performance Bands better matches your biomechanical output potential.

How do I calculate the amount of protein I need to build muscle? I’m not seeing muscle gains…

The consensus in academic research for how much protein is required to optimize muscle building is, on average, 1 gram per pound of body weight, or 2.2 grams per kilogram. NOT lean weight, but body weight.

As the primary protein source in most of these studies was primarily whey protein powder, presumably because of its easy measurement, we know the usability was poor. The body uses only 18% of whey protein for protein synthesis, and the rest becomes waste.

We recommend that you meet or exceed the 1 gram per pound requirement, but then a Fortagen serving counts for 50g of protein by usability. So, for example, if we look at Dr. Jaquish, he weighs 240 pounds, so in his one meal per day, he will consume 2 pounds or more of meats (meats have different concentrations of protein) so that he gets to 200 grams of protein. He will take a dose of Fortagen to make the total 250 grams of protein which is over his 240 pounds bodyweight number.

There isn’t really maintenance for the X3. If you wish to wipe down the bar and ground plate with disinfectant wipes, feel free. The bands are expected to get some wear and tear, kinda similar to a car tire.

One way to prevent them from breaking down faster than normal is to avoid using your X3 on extremely rough surfaces like pavement.

If you want to clean your bands, we recommend avoiding cleaners or chemicals. Some gentle soap may be okay.

Are the Force Measurements accurate/is there a load sensor?

There is indeed a load sensor in the bar, but that sensor requires calibration, which is why we ask for your height. During the calibration process, you're expected to use only the standard white band that comes with the X3 – not the white X3 Performance (Paraforce) band – so that the app can compare the raw load sensor data with the amount of force that this band is estimated to produce when used by someone of that height. The app then calibrates itself based on that comparison.

After that initial setup, the bar and app display the load sensor data, calibrated based on your bar setup. When you're performing your workouts and you input a band color, that doesn't actually affect your force readout; it's only in there as a notation for your personal reference when you review your logs.

Once you calibrate the bar correctly with the standard white band, you will get a live readout based on the load sensor's actual outputs.

This said, the "pounds" forces are estimated based on the calibration data you collect during the initial calibration step. This means that if you perform the exercise differently during calibration and adopt a different form during the workout, it will become less accurate.

All load sensors can also be slightly affected by temperature changes, etc.

However, it is a real load sensor that will provide real-time data regardless of what bands you use during the exercise.

Dr. Jaquish achieved all of his initial results using the standard X3 12-week training method, which certainly builds muscle.

That said, we have numerous customers interested in "volume training" techniques, which has led to investigating a more time-intensive option: The X3 Hypertrophy Program is focused on maximizing muscular size, with less emphasis on getting great results out of fast workouts. As a result, the hypertrophy program requires a substantially larger time investment.

The two protocols can help you achieve slightly different goals. If your goal is just to be as strong and as lean as possible, then you'll want to stick with the original X3 12-week program, which is designed to help you achieve that goal in the shortest possible time.

The X3 Hypertrophy protocol is a much more time-intensive option that focuses on maximizing muscular size, with less emphasis on fast workouts.

Some new research shows that working muscles with agonist/antagonist relationships (like what is recommended in the X3 Hypertrophy protocol) allows for a larger cardiovascular capacity with shorter rest times. Supersets done via this method can achieve volume training in 36% less time, with no compromise in performance or muscle hypertrophy. That means just twenty seconds of rest between exercises in the supersets and then 2 minutes of rest between the second superset of the same movements.

The Total Force calculation cannot be tallied until after the rep has been fully completed. So, the Total Force score will not increase until the algorithm senses that you've completed the eccentric and concentric parts of the motion.

When performing a workout, you'll see your Total Force score jump up in the middle of your tenth rep, but that jump reflects the score for the entirety of the ninth rep.

Since the algorithm has to collect and then parse the data for your rep before creating a score, the score for your tenth rep won't be displayed on the app until you're partway through your eleventh rep.

They have the same resistance as the original X3 resistance bands, but they are more accommodating to the human strength curve. As a result, these bands increase force as you stretch them, allowing you to achieve higher peak forces and greater potential to stimulate muscle growth.

This means they are lighter at the bottom of the movement and heavier at the top. This makes them feel easier, but they are just as powerful. You may do more reps with more weight, which stimulates more growth. You may want to look into the X3 Force Bar if you are looking for specific numbers.

Enhanced durability also allows for “stacking” or combining multiple bands during one exercise, a practice that is discouraged with standard X3 latex bands.

In addition, the GHAccelerator platform has body motion technology built into the device, meaning that if you step on the device, then it automatically starts. If you step off, it automatically turns off. The machine is better built for your workout progress and will remain durable and reliable for years.

The more the ratio of the 8 essential amino acids changes from the optimal pattern, the less the body utilizes the protein. Fortagen has the most optimized amino acid ratios to maximize muscle growth. You get the highest protein nutritional value in the world at nearly 100% usage.

So when you consume a protein, a small percentage of the amino acids ingested are used anabolically but the rest are catabolized for energy or to make other non-protein molecules. The first step in breaking down the amino acids is to deaminate them, removing the NH2 amine group (which contains nitrogen). As a result, the nitrogen portion gets excreted as waste - typically in urine.

The researchers in the above study were able to compare how much of the protein/amino acids were utilized anabolically by measuring the total nitrogen that was present in waste byproducts. As a result, they established the net utilization of various types of proteins, including eggs (48%), meat/fish (32%), and whey (18%). By comparison, we can see that when Fortagen is consumed, nearly 100% of the amino acids are actually used for anabolic processes because there is little to no nitrogen is being wasted.

So if you have 100% utilization of Fortagen vs. ~20% utilization of the whey protein, it necessarily means that the Fortagen is 5X as effective (5 X 20 = 100). Taking a single dose of Fortagen is like taking 5 doses of whey protein because the Fortagen is so much more readily available for your body. This means that for every 50g of whey protein you take, you only need 10g of Fortagen to get the same result.

Thighs are large muscles that require a lot of blood flow during squats. What can happen is your cardiovascular system is getting exhausted before your muscles.

If you are having trouble finishing the exercise before your muscles are exhausted, we recommend trying the split squat. It allows you to focus on one leg at a time and is amazing for core activation.

You may also want to move down in resistance to a lighter band.

Also, be sure to practice proper breath control. This will allow you to get more repetitions and go to a deeper level of fatigue.

Most resistance bands cannot handle a heavy amount of force.

99% of resistance bands, even those for pull-up bars, are made from petroleum-based material. This weak material will snap with enough force.

X3’s heavy-duty resistance bands are made of layered latex, which is extremely powerful and far more powerful than most bands. The standard X3 bands that come with the X3 are made through layering. With 15 total layers of natural latex, this adds durability and strength to the X3 resistance bands. Unlike other cheaper resistance bands, the individual layers help prevent the bands from snapping or breaking.

It also means that, when used safely with the X3 bar and X3 ground plate, you can apply very high forces (sometimes over 600 lbs!) just with a resistance band!

It may be a bit tight to get the band around your shoulders for the chest press and tricep press, but as with all things, the more you do it, the easier it will get.

The first step is connecting the bands to the X3 bar in the “doubled-over” format used for the chest press, deadlift, bent row, etc. Next, grab the band in the middle, so the bar is hanging parallel to the ground. Then, put your head and one shoulder through the opening between the band and the bar.

The bar should now be at a 45-degree angle in front of you, and one of your shoulders should be between the band and the bar. For that shoulder, situate the band so it wraps around your arm between the deltoid and tricep.

When it is securely in place, drop the band down on the other side of your body to get the band position on the other shoulder/tricep to match. You are now ready to do the X3 chest press with the band in the correct position. By keeping constant tension, the band will not move during this exercise.

The Total Force number is a calculation that takes into account your rep cadence, rep count, total time under tension, and the forces you're experiencing during the workout.

The point is to encourage users to perform the best possible workout, which will ultimately yield the greatest results.

You shouldn't necessarily expect your score to increase just because you moved to a heavier band. Both your rep count and your time under tension are halved when you move up to the heavier band. So even though you were achieving a greater maximum force, you were experiencing less time under tension.
